Your pre-purchase checklist
| Check | What to establish |
|---|---|
| Device | Exact model, regional variant, eSIM support and carrier unlock. |
| Coverage | Every required destination in the selected package’s current list. |
| Allowance | Your likely data use, including laptop sharing and any unlimited-plan conditions. |
| Validity | How long it lasts, what starts it and any activation deadline. |
| Calls and SMS | Data-only service versus your usual number and home-carrier charges. |
| Final price | Currency, eligible amount, displayed discount, fees and total. |
Keep these decisions separate
Compatibility is a purchase prerequisite, rather than a speed guarantee. Installation and activation can happen at different times. Unlimited data and unrestricted tethering are separate conditions.
A home SIM may retain your usual number while Yesim supplies data. Check which line is selected and your carrier’s billing rules; buying an eSIM does not configure both lines for you.
Choose a plan for your route
Compare a country plan with a regional plan using actual country lists and whole-trip cost. For specific itineraries, use the Africa coverage observation or Balkans and Kosovo checklist. Those coverage snapshots are historical and require a new check before purchase.
Then estimate your data use and compare home-carrier roaming for the same dates.

Official guidance checked October 26, 2026
- Device compatibility: Match the exact model and regional variant, and check carrier-unlocked status.
- Buying a data plan: Travel plans provide data rather than a conventional phone number. Check destination, allowance and duration before purchasing.
- Activation conditions: Validity may begin at purchase, installation or network connection. Read the selected package's trigger.
- Hotspot and tethering: Most plans support sharing, but local operators may restrict it. Shared usage consumes the plan's data.
- Unlimited-plan policy: Unlimited is not offered everywhere. Partner networks may apply their own fair-use terms.
Documentation review only. No live plan quote, account purchase or network test. Evidence policy.
Questions, answered.
Does a Yesim travel data plan include a phone number?
The official purchase guide describes travel plans as data-only, without a conventional number for carrier calls and SMS. Internet calling apps can use the data. Check separate products and your home line for other communication needs.
Can I install my eSIM before traveling?
Read the selected package’s activation trigger first. Installing a profile and starting validity are different events, but some packages can start validity at installation or purchase.
Does a regional name prove that my country is covered?
No. Check each destination in the exact package’s current country list. Regional labels, related-country links and testimonials do not establish inclusion.
