The direct answerCheck the selected plan’s activation conditions before installation. Yesim says activation can depend on purchase, installation or network connection, depending on the plan.

Separate installation from validity

Yesim’s activation guidance lists several possible triggers: purchase, installation, first compatible-network connection, or installation combined with a suitable connection. The selected package’s description determines the relevant conditions.

Our recommendation is to record three items before starting: the validity period, its trigger and any activation deadline. Do not assume that every plan waits until arrival.

Prepare the setup

Confirm device compatibility first. Keep access to the merchant’s setup instructions and your purchase record during travel.

For Apple devices, Yesim’s guide describes installation with internet access and QR-code or manual options. It instructs users to select the Yesim profile for mobile data and enable roaming on that profile when starting to use it. Follow the instructions for your exact device and purchase.

Distinguish the travel eSIM’s settings from those of your home carrier. Check your home carrier’s roaming policy separately rather than assuming that one setting prevents all charges.

If you cannot connect

Use the Yesim no-internet troubleshooting guide for a structured check of the selected data line, profile, plan and roaming settings.

Check the plan’s activation state, destination coverage and selected data line. Yesim’s general connection guide recommends automatic network selection and the eSIM-specific troubleshooting flow in the app. Use that personalized guidance before changing APN values; instructions can vary between profiles.

We have not tested your device or network. If the problem persists, use the official help center with a redacted description of your context. Keep payment data and unrelated account details private.

Return to plan selection if coverage or validity is the problem. If the phone works but a laptop does not, read the hotspot guide.

Sources & evidence notes

This guide adapts Promo Zealot’s original material. Its source-review date is October 11, 2026. Historical coverage-dialog observations belong to Promo Zealot; Yesim Guide has not repeated those dialogs or performed a network test.

For general documentation checked on October 26, 2026, read the separate official-source review. That review does not refresh the historical coverage or coupon evidence.
